Kim Kwaz McKerracher

Kim has been a nurse for over 40 years which has included a director of nursing position along with other management positions. She has been a single mom of twins, a professional beach volleyball player, a national wallyball champion, an all-american, and a high school and club coach. Kim also experienced divorce, many deaths in her family, and many deaths in her profession.

She took up painting and drawing around the year 2000 to help deal with the stress. " I have found that when I am painting, I feel like I am in the right place at the right time, just for the moment."

She has won numerous awards through the years including Best of Show and People's Choice. Recent awards includes first place at Bay City's Tall Ships paint out, and an honorable mention at Paint Grand Traverse competition in Traverse City that included many national plein air artists.

"Painting nature and people can bring beauty into our lives. To be reminded of a happy feeling or a peaceful vacation can be healing to our spirits. Art is an intervention for our hectic lives."

I believe all art is valid
It may shout perfection to the masses
It may speak prose to the few
Or just whisper meaning to the one
